Division of Quality of Healthcare

Research has led to better prevention, diagnoses, and treatment of diseases. However, according to the AHRQ National Healthcare Disparities Report, evidence indicates that some Americans do not receive the full benefits of high quality care. Alarmingly, millions of minority and poor patients throughout the nation experience health disparities resulting from racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic inequities. Monitoring and tracking increases and decreases in disparities over time is crucial to the process of informing health policy and improving care for minority and poor patients.

The Division of Quality of Healthcare is directed toward improving minority health and eliminating disparities through research, evaluation, and public health policy recommendations in safety, effectiveness, patient centeredness, and timeliness of care received by African American, Hispanic, American Indian and Alaska Native, Asian, and poor Americans and other disparities population.
